Citizenship and Naturalization

AMAAM has always been providing citizenship and naturalization services for refugees. It is included in our brochure. Most African refugees are assisted by AMAAM in their citizenship examination. We deliver this quality service building upon the experience we have gained in the past 20 years. AMAAM will also include in its citizenship education that American citizenship is a privilege and an honor and is not a bridge to get passports or bring relatives. The refugee candidates have to be part of the society in appreciating their indebtedness to America and to participate in civic duties, in the military, in voting and jury duty. AMAAM provides the following citizenship services:

  • Publicizing and informing the availability of citizenship and naturalization education.

  • Linking ESL and citizenship education by small group study or by referring them to International Institute

  • Providing assistance to refugees to take their naturalization test. These include providing transportation to and from the jurisdictional INS office for examination or place of Ceremony of the Oath of Allegiance or naturalization in St. Louis.

  • Referring them to immigration attorneys and the Immigration Law Project for those whose income are low.
